The American Palestine Jewish Legion to-day cabled to Lord Allenby, ‘•in the name of oOOU Jewish soldiers,” recalling their services and appealing to him to ‘'prevail upon your fellow British citizens to resist this latest attempt to impugn British honour.” A large Zionist meeting of protest is being planned to be.held in Madi.sou Square Garden on November 2. Dr. Cyrus Adler, one of the most distinguished figures in American Jewry, warned his co-religionists today against any anti-British feeling. He says: “Politicians come and politicians* go, but the spirit of the nation lives forever. The British people can he trusted in the long run to carry out their obligations.” The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” states that although the State Department has declined to comment on the situation, the present indications are that it will follow a “hands off” policy.
