EXTENSION SCHEME

Work is to begin at once on the further enlargement of the Southern Rail-: ways extension scheme of Southampton Docks, under which some 3500 feet of deep water quays suitable for the accommodation of vessels of 40 foot draught, together with cranes, sheds, railways j and all modern accessories, are to be constructed at an estimated cost of £3,000,000. The work will take about five years to complete. The Government has agreed to give, financial help under the Development Loans, Guarantees, and Grants Act.
The scheme also includes t-lie reclamation of about 200 acres of mudland 1 .
