LONDON, Oct, 22. “It is almost unparalleled ingratitude and treachery tOAvards a credulous and harassed people, Avho belie\ r ed that they had found a haven under the British flag and the guaranteed word of British statesmen,” says Lord Melchett, denouncing the Palestine decisions in a letter to Dr. Weizmann in Avhich he also resigns the joint chairmanship of the JeAvish Agency’s council.
“The Government’s action is a grotesque- travesty of the purpose of the mandate and an insult to Jewry’s intelligence,” Lord Melchett declares. “The recklessness with Avhich the Goa'ernment has Avreclced the loyal support of Jews throughout the Empire and the Avorld is incredible in view of the fact 'that thousands of Jews joined the British at a critical moment m the Palestine campaign, many giving up their lives for Avhat they believed ivas a. genuine offer for the establishment of a JeAvish home.”

The Zionist organisation of America is discussing steps to bring the matter of the British Palestine policy before the State Department, alleging the British action directly violates the British-American mandate convention treatv American Zionists are widely displeased with the British policy and ivre arranging to- call in the assistance of Mr Frank Furtser, professor at Harvard, and other legal aid to fight and force Britain to rescind its neiv policy. . . ~ Mr Felix Warburg, chairman ot the administrative committee of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, in a lengthy statement alleges Lord Pass field has misled him and Britain’s policy is ‘ a cruel betrayal of trusteeship. The Jewish National Council has issued a statement- that the British GoA'ernment’s -policy has broken a solemn pledge to Jews. “A JeAvish national home becomes a bitter mockery and a political hypocrisy. 'Our right thereto Avas recognised by the League of Nations, America and all the British Governments and is justified and confirmed by our achievements.”
