TRAGEDY AT GIANT FALLS. .Under hazardous conditions the bod; cl an Englishwoman, Mrs Kirby, who was killed alter a struggle with a native in Rain Forest, Victoria Falls, in Africa. was recovered from the rocks among which it had been located. The funeral took place at Livingstone, at which the local Government was represented. Mrs Kirby was attacked while sight-seeing with a lady companion, and the latter rushed away to fetch help. When she returned Mrs Kirby had disappeared, hut suspicions marks were found on the brink of the falls. During a search that was instituted the alleged assailant was killed by falling from a bridge. For the -purpose of recovering Mrs Kirby’s body special gear was taken from Wankie Colliery and tested with loads of ballast. Three men were then lowered into the gorge where the h-cdy was located. They were drenched with spray, but managed to secure the body, which was wedged between huge rocks. The ascent occupied 40 minutes
