Mr W. H. Robinson, of Mama-ia, who ‘has boon' seriously ill in hospital for the past ole von weeks, is now making a satisfactory improvement. I be death of Lord Brotherton at the ace of 74 is reported in a cable from London. He was for a term Lord Mayor of Leeds and owned extensive chemical manufacturing plants. Mr. A. Et. Mahon has been appointed headmaster of the Mangatoki school in place of Mr. A. F. Farnall, transferred to Kaponga, and Miss Erica Neilsen has been appointed assistant at Mangatoki.
Miss C. Frewin has been appointed assistant infant mistress at Hawera. In reference to the recent death of Mr. A. T. Main, of Mokoia, two motions of condolence were passed yesterdav with Mrs. Main and family, one at the meeting of the Education Board and the other at the special meeting of the Mokoia Settlers’ Association. These two motions eulogised the work of the late Mr. Main in connection with the school committee and the sports meeting at Mokoia.
