T CHRE TOURNEY AND DANCE. There was a very large gathering rom Hnwera, Manaia, and other parts >; the district,' in addition to a. good number of local residents, at t-he speiial euchre party and dance arranged at To-kaora. last, evening by a. oornmitoe. with Mr. J. Freyne as lion, sec-re-fit rv and M.C. The -occasion proved cnl-ete with enjoyment. There was a very good muster of euchre players and after a series of -lose games, the prize winners among Abe ladies were Mrs. F. Jackson (first), ml Airs. E. Jennings (second), with i Mrs. Kavanagh next. These three tied uvl .had to play off. The first and second among the men were Messrs. A. Duggan and S. Thrush respectively. Dancing was enjoyed to the music of Wills’ Melody Makers. The winners W the Monte Carlo, were Miss J. 'Turner and Mir. K. Fryer. Supper was provided tinder the superintendence of Tie ladies committee.
