As a protest against the despoiling of the countryside with- large advertising bondings, four prominent Dunedin citizens Tcccntly set out with saws and axes to clean up tlie Cromwell Gorge. They dumped one hoarding near Clyde into the river before the. local poliee interfered. Court proceedings may follow. One of the party stated that, the action was taken as a protest .against Government inactivity in allowing the country to be. made hideous by roadside hoardings.
