CHINA’S APPLICATION FAILS

“I have promises for 40 votes in favour of the eligibility of China, but I don’t know whether all the promises will he kept,” said) the secretary of China’s delegation. His doubts were justified ; China received 37 votes, falling short qf the two-thirds majority necessary to secure re-admission to the Council. Guatemala, Norm ay and the Irish Free State were elected to the Council!.
