REVIEW OF THE SEASON ' ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the ITawern. 'Cricket Club drew an attonda.ireo of 15 players and club supporters to the Borough Council Chambers last evening. The president. Mr B. McCarthy, occupied the chair. The report stated that owing to a serious shortage of players in the senior grade, only one team was entered by the Hawera Club. It performed very well during the season. Many interesting and exciting finishes resulted from closely contested games. The club heartily congratulated the Old Boys ’ team on again winning the South Taranaki .championship, this being the second time, in succession. The Ilavora Club was third on the list, “Once: again it has been demonstrated that with work and attention, good match (wiicket'S can be procured,” con- , tinned the report. “As in the past, the preparation of wickets has been left to the same two or three players and members are again urged to recognise the fairness of all taking part in this direction. Practices were again very poorly attended and if members 1 wish to improve their game .more attention to practice at least twice a week is urged. With the assistance of daylight saving, the members have ample time of an evening for practice. The balance-sheet shows the total receipts a® 519 Ids and the total payments £lO Ills 7d, leaving a credit balance of £2: 19s sd. It is unfortunate for the financial part that several old outstanding accounts were found, to, be owing and: these have been squared up, so that the club starts the 1930-31' sea sou clear.

Ho hoped that keen enthusiasm would be evinced in the game during the coming season and that the club would be able to challenge seriously the division leadership. He urged that -success in competitive play rested mainly on prepa.tory work and appealed to all players to give tlic maximum of their available time .to practice. The motion to adopt the report and balance-sheet was seconded by Mr L. A. Jennings and was carried after a short discussion. OFFICE RS ELECTED. Garnett (re-elected); club captain, Mr W.- 11. Crombie; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr R. G. Hawke (re-elect-ed): hon. auditor, Mr J. Nielsen; didogates to the association, Messrs J. Nielsen and! L. A. Jennings (re-elected); committee, Messrs L. 11. Giblin, ‘L. A. Jennings, J. Nielsen (re-elected), T. F. McKenzie and T. Kennedy. New members were elected as follow: Messrs H. D. Hughes, G, Boesley, T. Kennedy, M, B. Shaw. GENERAL. Jt, was decided that the subscription be 255, as previously. Referring to efforts made last season ta re-establish the junior competition, Mr R. Malone referred: to the difficulty which had arisen over the inability of the .secondary school clubs to field teams diming the holiday period. He recommended that if similar endeavour was made this season that some understanding be reached with the schools concerning play during the holidays. Votes of thanks were accorded the officials of the club for their services during the season.
