Commander Morgan arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Mataroa to take command of the H.M.S. Veronica, now at Auckland, relieving Commander Robertson, who returns home by the Niagara. Lieutenant Grimes also arrived and replaces Lieutenant Commander Spencer on the Veronica. The permanent head of the Government Law Drafting Department, Mr J. Christie, left Wellington on Monday for England, where it. is understood he will link up with l the New Zealand delegation to the Imperial Conference and render legal assistance in connection with its work. The main object of his visit, however, arises out of a contract entered into by the Government for the publication of an annotated edition of the New Zealand Statutes. Air Christie will confer in: London with the publishers’ editorial staff.
