(By Telegraph —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 11
Suffering from injuries received in two successive accidents, Arthur John McGuinness, aged 38, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital on the evening of August 19 and died the following day. McGuinness was knocked down by a motor cycle in Karangahape Road early in tlie evening, and later the same evening he fell over a stairway railing at his home, landing heavily, on the floor below. The inquest into his death was concluded before the coroner, Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., toMay. The widow, Mrs Jessie McGuinness, said she saw her husband in a shop shortly after the accident. Later lie was able to walk home with .assistance. Mrs McGuinness was unable to get the injured man undressed, and later found him lying unconscious at the foot of the stairs. In Airs McGuinness’ opinion, lie had apparently tripped and failed over tlie bannister railing. In the opinion of Dr Murray the cause of death war haemorrhage with fractures of the pelvis and spine following on congestion of the brain and fracture of the skull. The fatal injuries were received through the fall over the balustrade. He had had a good chance of recovering from the head injuries received when he -was knocked down by the motor cycle.
.The coroner said he was satisfied the cause of death was as stated „by Dr Murray. The evidence did not satisfy him that the motor cyclist was negligent.
