LOCAL AND PERSONAL
On Sunday last, after the singing of the Missa Cantata, St. Joseph’s choir met in order to make a. presentation to Mr. .1. Higham, who has resigned from the position. Mr. B. Malone made an -appropriate speech and handed to Mr. Higham a beautifully hound volume of essays by Hillaire Belloc as a small token of gratitude, for the valuable service- rendered to the choir. Mr. Higham, in thanking the members for their gift, mentioned that his work amongst choirs had extended over a great number of years and he felt that the time had come when he could take a much-needed rest. During; the little ceremony special mention was made of the music which was a feature of the opening of the church, and which reflected very great credit on Mr. Higham’s conductor ship.
