By two goals tq one, the Taranaki ladies’ hockey team beat Rangitikei in a fast game at Hawera yeisterdav afternoon .

The teams were: , Baingitikei : Mrs. Downes. Misses D. I listen* M. Jackson, M. Stent, It. Green (captain), G. Sanson. D. Daivis, Mrs. Signal, Misses M. Clapham, B. Managli and Iwatau.. Taranaki: Misses It. Shannon, N. Julian, It. Townsend, M. Gower, K. Tilley, B. Walker, M. Young), B. Stevens, B. Watkins', P. Wylds and «i. Forsyth. A period of even play followed until Taranaki asserted themselves and Miss Forsythe shot a beautiful goal. BangitiTiei took the hall to Taranaki’s: goal, hut Miss .Shannon .saved. Taranaki attacked, hut a free hit halted them and Bangitikei changed defence into attack again. Miss Shannon once more making a good clearance. Time was called shortly afterwards with Bangitikei on the attack and’ the senses:

Tn a Nordon Cup hockey match played at Masterton to-day the challengers, Manawntu, defeated Wairarapa by one goal to nil. A steady drizzle prevailed through the greater part of the game, which was fast and in the closing stages exciting. The teams were evenly matched, hut Mnnawatu displayed superior tactics in forward work and its defence was very sound. No score had been made at half-time, but in the second half Hoare found the net for Mnnawatu.
