KAPONGA METHODIST CHURCH
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
The anniversary celebrations of the Methodist Church in Kaponga, were held on Sunday and Tuesday last, and were well attended throughout. The Sunday services were conducted by the Rev. P. J. Gossum, who spoke on the work, mission and message of the Christian Church. The evening service was choral, the choir rendering two anthems in line, style, and Airs. Davies, Alias Harding, Air. Davies end Air. Hey singing the quartette “Calvarv.”
On Tuesday night last the anniversary concert was held in the Parish Hall. -In spite of the very cold right there was a good attendance and a lengthy programme was submitted to an appreciative audience who voiced {'heir enjoyment of the items contributed by repeated encores. Those contributing to the programme comprised Messrs Harding, Plii I port, and W. Hey (songs), Misses Botch, Saunders, and Blennerhassett mental trios), Miss Beech (pianoforte solo), Miss Saunders (’cello solo), Miss Blennerhassett (violin .solo and song), Misses Southern .and Harding (songsi, Misses Anderson and Miss E. Hording (elocutionary items). Misses M. Cook and I. Brewer played a pianoforte duet very nicely, as did Misses B and P. Tonkin. The choir also, under the baton of Mr. Davies, rendered the anthem “Rock of Ages” in their usual excellent style.
At the close of Hie musicll .programme supper ivas served by the ladies of the church, and the gathering. concluded with votes of thanks to the performers and the holies vho iiad provided the supper.
