The death occurred suddenly at Nelson on Tuesday of Mr. Robert M. Irvine, farmer, of Wairoa Gorge. He was walking across a paddock on his property-'when he had a seizure :and expired. The late Mr. Irvine, who was oo years of age. was known tlrroughoiut the Dominion as a rifle shot, and at Irentham until late years he was a regular competitor. In 1904 he ran second for the Belt to his eluibmate, Rifleman J. W. Ching. The following year Mr. J. W. Millroy, of Nelson, won' 1 the Belt, and in 1906 Lieut. Irvine, as he then was, won the championship. Mr Irvine was twice selected to represent l\ew Zealand at Bisley, and. on one occasion was very close up for the King’s Prize. He was a member of the New Zealand team which won the Kolapore Cup at Bisley in 1905.
