GALES IN AUSTRALIA
SHIPPING DISORG ANISED
DISTURBANCE IN TASMAN

SYDNEY, Sept. 9.
Fierce gales have been raging for the past 4 hours in parts of South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales, and have damaged houses and gardens. Shipping has heen greatly disorganised.
There have been the heaviest storms in Northern Tasmania, where floods arc feared.
The greater portion of New South Wales to-day has been enveloped in dust. A severe hailstorm in the, western and southern suburbs smashed many windows, and the high winds lifted roofing tiles into the streets. The weather bureau has issued warnings to shipping of an intense cyclonic disturbance over south-eastern Australia, extending over tho Tasman Sea.
