PRINCIPLE OF CONSOLIDATION
ASSOCIATION’S RESOLUTIONS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 10. The conference of the Technical Education of Now Zealand passed Iho following resolutions: “That this conference believes that loenl post-prim-ary councils should have power to make appointments to staffs, and that, if any national appointments' committed is instituted, its function should' be to furnish information and recommendations regarding each of the list, of applicants, from which the' local council should make the final choice. '“That the. general adoption of separate intermediate schools of the Kowhai type will not provide courses JLior pupils- equivalent to what is now in technical high schools, with resultant educational loss on the technical side of the community. “That the benefits now conferred on pupils of technical high schools are too valuable to be. lost and that the principle of consolidation is in the best interests of education and will be of assistance to technical education where district high schools have definite technical courses.”
