UNEMPLOYED DEMONSTRATION
BO ARD MEMBERS HOWLED DOWN. DISPERSAL BY POLICE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Aug .27.. Refused admittance to the room m which the social welfare committee of the Wellington Hospital Board was holding its weekly meeting, about a hundred unemployed held a demonstration outside tiie public hospital this afternoon. Members of "the 'board, sought to. reason with the noisy faction but they were howled! down. Eventually police who had been specially aske<l to be in attendance, dispersed the gathering. The men‘are well known to the hospital authorities, who consider their requests unreason abl. The authorities state the men have, been told to put their claims in writing and approach the committee in the usuall way, but thi® they have refused to do on more than one occasion.
