HEAVY DAMAGES AWARDED
CLAIM FOLLOAVS ACCIDENT. WORKER. INCAPACITATED. <Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) HAMILTON, Aug. 28. General damages at £9OO and special damages totalling £382 were awarded William Styles, aged 29, in the Supreme Court at Hamilton in a claim arising out of an accident on the MamakURotorua hlgnway on January 25, 1929, when he was knocked off his motor cycle by a service oar driven ‘by Harold Bates. Plaintiff was seriously injured and - bis machine damaged. Prior to the collision plaintiff was employed as_ a henchman, hut as the result of the injuries received was unable to work until April, 1930 .and he thereby lost wages amounting to; £420, and since- March he had been able to work as a casual employee. only. Plaintiff’s injuries consisted of compound fractures of the right leg above and below the knee, injuries to t-lie light ankle, which had permanently shortened the leg by an inch, and also stiffened the ankle. He was incapable now of working as a bench,man.. Special damages totalling £7Ol 5s and £ISOO general damages were claimed.
