VICTIM OF FOUL PLAY
CITY VISITOR’S (STORY STRUCK WITH iBEER! BOTTLE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Aug. 27. Admitted to hospital with a: gashed head and; cut- hands, a man, named .'Leslie, Wilson alleged he was the victim of foul play'. It is stated that he came to 'Wellington from Te Kuiti, -and was seeking a room in which to spend the night in Abel Smith Street. He was met by two men. He inquired whether they knew of a suitable room and the pair said they Aid) and asked him to go with. them.
The party went along toward the Basin Reserve. iWhcn they were near the rear gate of the Technical College it is alleged that Wilson was struck over the head with a ’full bottle of beer, being knocked unconscious and then robbed. At this stage the caretaker of the Technical College put in an appearance and the assailants made off.
The police were called and, Wilson was taken toi hospital, where ho was found to have a gash on the forehead and another wound at the bock of his head and cuts upon his hands. Wilson is about 3.6 years of age. He found that he had lost 10s, though £3 10s, which was in ai small inside pocket, had not been discovered. Two stitches were inserted in his forehead. No arrests have been made.
