MINIATURE RIFLE SHOTS
MATCH WITH FRONTIERSMEN. A team representing the Ohave Troop of the Legion an Frontiersmen fired a. friendly match with members of the Hawera Miniature Rifle Club on the local range last evening, the club team winning, .with a tody of 609 against 542. By the request of the Legion members, they shot on 4qtxal terms with the club team, and would not- take advantage of an extra man, as usually given. Individual scores were as follow :; —
Legion team. —F. Rae 50, W. ■Stunners 40. K. Cawsey 45, S. Reeee 40, D. Blair 42. D. Cunningham 43, F. Powell 42, T. Hey 42, N. Hunt. 28, A. McGuimiess 45. A. Stevens 36. W. Shaw 34; total 542. Club team.; —A.. Elgar 48, T. Hotter 48, Mrs F. Rae <4B, J, Vinton 49, JL. Franvptbn 45, Miss E. Rae 45, L. Uttinger 49, A. Wilson 46, A. Thruisli 44. A. Booth 43, P. Petersen 49, Mrs Veitch 46. G. Harding 49; total, 609. After the match the ladies entertained the visitors and members to 'supper, which was much appreciated. _ The club president (Mr A. El gar) said a feiv, words in welcome to the Legion, and hoped that we wouhl see them again on the range this season. He also paid a tribute to the sportsmanship of the Legion members.
Mr A. Stevens replied on behalf of the Legion, and thanked the club for their entertainment,. especially the ladies, and said that in the near future they would pay a return visit, when he hoped the scores would he much closer. The usual shooting night will be held on Thursdav at 7.30, when the last round of Mr E. J. Booth’s and 'Dr. W. F. Buist’.s 1 trophies will be fired for.
