By burning pulverised coal it is claimed that a saving of £26 was effected in the running costs of the new German freighter Strassfurt, of the Hamburg-Atneriea line, which has reached Sydney on her maiden voyage. The sister ship, Bitterfeld, burning ordinary coal, carries 10 more firemen and consumes more fuel. In future the Strassfurt will use Australian coal for the return journey. It is understood that the Manly ferries will instal plants and use pulverised coal.
