The Nurses, a.nd Midwives* Registration Board advised the Stratford Hospital Board yesterday that it had been decided to cancel the approval given by tlie board for the Stratford public hospital to be> a training school for midwives. The only institutions to train widwives would be the St. Helen’s hospitals at Auckland, Wellington. Christchurch and Invercargill. The cancellation would take effect from March 10, 1931, so that those who had commenced training on July .10 last could complete their courses. I)r IX Steven, medical .superintendent, reported that during July the number of patients admitted had been 57, discharged 51, died 2, remaining in hospital 35, out-patients attended 3, admissions to maternity ward 16, births 14, visits to the ante-natal clinio 87, admissions to the isolation ward 1. remaining I. Operations had numbered 10. The matron (Mrs J. Hunt) reported that- Nurses Sharpe and F'aulconbridgo sat for the State midwifery examination on August 6. Nurse Watt commenced duty as staff nurse on. July 15. The district nurse at Whangatnomona (Miss M. Myers) reported that she had treated 17 medical and surgical cases.
