Mr J. R. Corrigan left Hawera this morning for Wellington on business.
|Mr T. Forsyth, who has been ell airman of the Wellington Education Board- for the past, 12 years, lia-s, been elected chairman for a further two years, states a Press Association message. Friends of Mr. Thomas Trask, who left for a, health-recruiting stay in North Auckland, will be pleased to know that he lias improved very materially and is thoroughly enjoying the sunny climate of the north. Hon. S. G. Smith -was yesterday reelected chaiman of the Taranaki Education Board. In nominating Mr Smith, Mr White said that it w r as very important to have Mr Smith at the head of the board and also in touch with affairs in Wellington while education was in a state of flux.
The unveiling of the memorial erected at Point Halswell to the late Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, P.C., who was Prime Minister of New Zealand for nearly 13 years, is to take place on Friday, September 19. This d-ate was chosen by members of tire Massey Memorial Reserve Board yesterday. The board will meet again to arrange details in connection with the ceremony.
Subject to the approval of the Education Department the Taranaki Education .Board yesterday appointed Mr Duncan Mackav, M.A., of the Oliura District High School, to the position of senior instructor in agriculture and supervision of manual and technical instruction in succession to Mr R. G. Bulling, who has been promoted to the position of inspector with headquarters at Wellington. There were 12 applications from all over the Dominion for the position.
At a meeting of the suppliers of the Mells Dairy Company held a few days ago opportunity was taken to present an address of appreciation and confidence in Mr O. J. Hawken, who has been chairman of the company for nearly 20 years. The address, which was beautifully executed and signed' by each individual supplier, expressed the hope that Mr Hawken would be granteel health' to continue as chairman for many years. Mr Hawken thanked the suppliers for their generous and kindly thoughts andi said he could not find words adequate- to express his appreciation for the confidence placed m him lie said he w-ould treasure' this testimonial from his fellow suppliers as long as lie lived, and it would he handed on to his son.
