At a gathering of distinguished British youth, organised by the “Daily Alail,” at the Savoy, Aliss Amy Johnson was presented with the first certificate of honorary membership of the United Kingdom Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators ever given to a woman ; also the “Daily Mail’s” cheque for £10.600 and a gold cun from British vouth.
Those present included youthful leaders of the British stage, cinema, sport, literature, science, art, politics, music, education, commerce and architecture.
Aliss Johnson, replying to laudatory speeches, said: “There was nothing exceptional in my flight, except that I am a girl, hut there is no reason why any girl should not- emulate it.”
