TEAMS SELECTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. G. At a meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association to-night a letter was received from the Auckland Association regretitng its inability to secure a team to fulfil the Shield match engagement with Canterbury, and foregoing the match. The Otago Association’s challenges for the Shield and for the Hatch Cup were referred to the Canterbury Association. The selectors for the inter-island match submitted the following teams, which were, approved:— South Island—ll. Snooks and E. Dash (Canterbury), 0. Gibbs (Nelson), V. Wells and B. Rogers (Canterbury), C. Jones (Bullcr), M. Bay (Otago), F. Fullwood and G. Burke (Canterbury), H. Whitwell and C. Mayston (Nelson). Emergencies: Underhill, R. Best, R. D. Irwin and O’Callaghan. North Island—N. Hughes (Wanganui), T. Ewan (Waikato), P. Skiers (Wellington), B. Massey (Wairarapa), A. Mahoney (captain) and ,T. Joblin (Wellington), B. Spiers (Waikato), G. Packer (Feilding), N. Robinson (Dannevirke), S. Betts (Taranaki). Emergencies: T. Clarke (Auckland), W. Bannin (Wairarapa). Mr A. Mahoney was appointed manager for the North Island team, and Mr I’. N. Quartermain for the. South Island team. Messrs O. J. Mullins (Nelson) and C. Sara (Westport) were appointed referees for the match.
