In the Australians’ game against Warwickshire less 'than two and a-half hours’ play was possible to-dav owing to rain, and during that time three good county wickets fell for 102. The teams are: Warwickshire. —R-. Wyatt, Rev. J. H. Parsons. Hon. F. S. Calthorpe, Partridge, Kemp-Welch, Smith. Bates, Kilnear, Groom, Mayer. Soutall. Australia. —Woodfull, Richardson, Ponsford, Jackson, McOabe, Fairfax, Grimmett, Hornihrook, a’Beckett, Oldfield, Hurwood. . The wicket was difficult hut suited Hurwood. who secured the former Test player Smith’s wicket and .later had both Bates and Croom missed off Ins bowling. The third wicket fell at 53, when Richardson " brilliantly caught Bates. Parsons took half-an-hour to •score. He and Wyatt later livened up, and when 102 had been scored in 145 minutes rain stopped play for the day. . ~ Every match except one since the Leeds Test, including the Manchester Test, has been seriously curtailed by rain, and an extraordinary position has now arisen whereby the three days before the final Test set aside for rest must now be transformed into practice days.
