MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING

RAWER A CLUB CONTESTS. At the weekly assembly of the Hawera Miniature Rifle Club on Tuesday evening Mrs F Rae, with a score of 48, again won the ladies’ button, while Mr J. Vinten withstood all challenges for the men’s button and held the trophy with a tally of 49, though scoring was close and Mr A. Elgar also registered 49. In the iunior contest Mr A. Thrush retained the button with a score of 46.

MISS GREEN’S TROPHY. With the third and final round yet to be completed Miss T. Ingram has the narrow lead of three-quarters of a point from Mrs Rae in the match for Miss Green’s trophy. Details of scores (including handicaps) in the first two rounds are as follow:

In future the range will lie opened every Thursday night instead of Tuesday as before. The -staff of Messrs Geo. Syme and Co., Ltd., has challenged the club- to a friendly match on Thursday (to-mor-row) evening. The range will be opened at 7.30 p.m. for practice for the visitors, and the match will commence at 8 p.m. .Messrs Syme and Co.’s team will he selected from the following: K. M-c-Earlano, C. Frnmpton, C. Crutch, G. Kirk, A. Ihle. L. Framnton. C. Johns, H. Woollett, G. Crutch, J. Norfolk, E. Spavin, S. Bollvo. R. Gardinier, G. ■ Harding. Coxhoad. After the match the ladies will provide supper on the range. The following trophy matches will commence, on Thursday, August 14, •nul continue for three weeks as follows :
