SEAMEN’S COMPENSATION
RESOLUTION OF PROTEST. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 6. A largely attended meeting of the Federated Seamen’s Lin ion yesterday considered the report of the commission which reported on the statutes relating to compensation l'or accidents to workers, and it ciamedl a resolution recording’ an emphatic protest against the proposal in clause 7, whereby it is proposed to reduce the weekly payments of single seamen thrown out of employment ”as a result of accident from £4 to £3 per week, it being considered that this contained within it a. scheme to reduce wages and divide the m-embcr-s.hio into two groups, married and single.
