1 AI FETING OF HARBOUR BOARD. At the monthly meeting of the Paten Hadbour Board ' yesterday there were present:—Messrs A. T. Christensen (chairman). A. .Pearce, A. N. Williams and W. H. Watkins. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. It. Corrigan, A. H. Hodge and S- Blake. Captain Tinney (harbourmaster) reported! that, the channel between the walls and on the bar is not too. good at the present- time—from observations made there were. 12 feet between the wails and 13 feet on the ha.r at high water spring tides, and about Bft 6in and 9ft Gin respectively at high water neiaip tides. The weather hais been too rough to permit of soundings being taken. During the month there were 7 arrivals. 7 departures and 3 went out on the lights. The Hawern. made five trips, and the Ina'lia two trips. The ,harbourmaster further reported that in* ill,ad been an inmate of the Paten, Hospital from July sto July 28, during which time his duties were, undertaken by Captain McLneblan, of the TCnponi. ’ The .ctredgemnister’s report on operations for the month was to the effect that the drag plant had shifted 2490 cubic yards. The boiler connected with the dredge plant had been inspected and passed, retaining its original presßure. During the month the river had. shoaled con.siderablv owing to heavy rains, and during spring tides the dredge was put .into, commission and dredged 630 cubic yards. He considered 1 the most important place to keep clear was the channel between the two- wharves to, permit of vessels? moving down to, the I loading berth when discharged. The."reports were adopted.
