SHIPPING. The s.s. Ivapuni, which has been equipped with Deisel engines in Auckland, underwent trials there yesterday. Her sister ship, the Hawera, leaves shortly for Auckland, where she will undergo similar conversion. It is anticipated that increased carrying space will result by the change. PIPE AT KAIvAEAMEA. A fire occurred in the outbuildings on Mr P. C. Hamblyn’s property at Ivakaramea last week. The tire had obtained a good hold before it was discovered and nothing could be done to save the contents. Mr Hamblyn’s car, manure distributor, two bicycles and a quantity of manure were destroyed. There was no insurance.
PERSONAL; 1 Miss Helen Shcild is visiting her home at AVhenuakura for a few weeks. Miss A. Horner (New Plymouth) was a visitor to Hawera this w r eck. Mr Gummer, of Messrs Gummer and Ford, Auckland architects for the Hunter Shaw Memorial Building, visited Pa'tea on Monday and met his agents, 'Messrs Dufiill and Gibson, of Hawera, architects, Mr A. G. Bignell, the contractor, the representatives of *the library and Plunlcet committees. Mr Warren,, the trustee for the Hunter Shaw estate, has made a further donation towards the furnishing of the library of £l5O.
