The Auckland com'mercinl travellers recently conducted a “drive’’ for cash and clothes with which, to help necessitous people. All the- money and clothes have been distributed by the travellers’ committee to people certified bv social organisations .is needy. The total so certified was 2130. but over 370 duplications were discovered, and also that 500 applicants eve re refused, as no social worker would certify to them. The controller of the distribution said Clio number of duplications would have been very large if no register bad! been kept', and they must have been very large in previous year.-,.
