The third of a series of successful afternoon assemblies in preparation for the October bazaar in aid of the Hawera Municipal Band uniform fund was held yesterday at the Savoy Tea Rooms, when some 40 lady residents of the district gave support to the gathering convened by Mrs H. C. A. Fox, Mrs H. W. Warcup and Miss Gould. Assistance in the task of stocking the sewing stalls of the bazaar was the principal object, and many beautiful gifts were donated and promised, the spirit of enthusiasm shown giving a promising augury for the success of the band appeal. Mesdames J. Brennan, J. Carter and Miss Dix (songs), Miss M. Kclland and Miss M. Fox (violin solos), Miss Joan Tonks (recitations) and Miss Olga Fox (musical monologue) contributed to a keenly appreciated programme of entertainment.
