HAWERA TRACK NOTES

As a result of last night’s rain the sand track came into requisition this morning, but there was no fast work attempted. . Copey, Orazone, Calamine, Pikimai and Maidos returned from their Palmerston North trip—Pikimai with a lirst, Alaidos two third and Copey a third. Ih’kimai, when going well on the second day, was brought down by another horse running across him. Alaidos jumped splendidly throughout, but acked a finishing effort. Orazone ran two, good races and tv ill be all tlie better for the outing.

Bonogne made his re-appearance on the Hawera tracks this morning, but was only trotted and cantered. He will be all the better for a little building up. All pace work was done on the sand. Ait. Shannon and Airtight went twice round at a good half-pace. Mendip is well above himself and was hard to restrain in his two laps. Kiosk, Bright Glow and Gowan Lea were pottered about on the inside. Silvermine strode out nicely over his pace work of two laps. Son o’ Mine (Cook) went a round of the schooling hurdles, jumping well. Gasfield went a mile and a-half, steady pace work, Tentcall and Ngaw'hine being allotted similar work. Homewood, who is on the improve, worked well over a round. J. Brown had Biflex, the three-year-old .sister to Bisox and IV hirl out doing useful exercise. The pair have done some road work and are in nice condition. limits cole and the Lackham colt 111 Pine’s stable worked together, sprinting a furlong down the track twice. Both moved nicely. Royal Acre, looking well after Ins spell, has rejoined Conway’s team and worked once round. He should not take long to got ready. O. Cox had, the.
