Mu. J. W. Harding, M.Se., demonstrator in physi.es at Victoria University College, has been awarded a research studentship at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, sayis a Wellington message. The studentship is open to graduates of the British Empire. Mr Harding will go into residence at Cambridge in October, and will pursue his studies in the Cavendish Labor atony under Sir Ernest Blither ford.

An expression of sympathy with Mr. A. J. Haseltine, of Hawera, in his present illness, together with hopes for his early recovery, was recorded by the Tokaora branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union at its meeting this week. The death has occurred a.t Auckland of Mr George Hutchison, aged 84, lawyer and politician.
