Word ilias been received in Okaiawa that Mr E. G. Betts, who with Mrs Betts is in London, had the bad tortune to contract scarlet fever and was in a private hospital for several weeks. He is reported now to be quite recovered. . . On the occasion of the visit of the Okaiawa farmers to the Patea Freezing Company’s works on Tuesday.. Air C D. Dickie, the chairman of directors. gave a special welcome to Air H. Betts, Sni\, and said he was the oldest man who had every boon through the works. . Visitors to Hawera, in the course ot a short holiday tour, arc Mr.-F. M. Wilkie, Mr C. E. Kusahs and Dr. Hay, all of Rotorua. They are staying at the White Hart Hotel. All keen golfers, they had a gain** at the Hawera links to-day. Mr Wilkie was for many years a resident of Kaponga and Hawefu, being a pioneer settler, and he is thoroughly interested in his visit io the town and district.
M c T. E. Wilson, of Ararata, who left some weeks ago on a trip for health reasons to England, was due to reach London to-day. His steamer was expected to reach Ttalv just at the time of the disaster there, and naturally Airs Wilson has been somewhat anxious and will be glad to hear of liis arrival in the Old Coup try, _
