Word ilias been received in Okaiawa that Mr E. G. Betts, who with Mrs Betts is in London, had the bad tortune to contract scarlet fever and was in a private hospital for several weeks. He is reported now to be quite recovered. . . On the occasion of the visit of the Okaiawa farmers to the Patea Freezing Company’s works on Tuesday.. Air C D. Dickie, the chairman of directors. gave a special welcome to Air H. Betts, Sni\, and said he was the oldest man who had every boon through the works. . Visitors to Hawera, in the course ot a short holiday tour, arc Mr.-F. M. Wilkie, Mr C. E. Kusahs and Dr. Hay, all of Rotorua. They are staying at the White Hart Hotel. Mr Wilkie was for many years a resident of Kaponga and Hawefu, being a pioneer settler, and he is thoroughly interested in his visit io the town and district.
