HAWERA TRACK NOTES

(By “Limited.”) There was a bitterly cold southerly blowing this morning, making things unpleasant for training operations. The Palmerston North-engaged horses were "given their final gallops. the trial grass was used for fast work ancl was in good condition. Calamine Lopped off smartly and the pair were together at the three furlongs lir 40. Calamine finished a neck in front at the finish in 1.22). Richfield and Son o’. Mine finished up six .furlongs of a. round on the sand in 1.26. _ Gasnapper and Missheff went a working gallon on the grass without making time.

Airtight and Gowan Lea were given easy pace work on the inside. Double Red was allotted pace work on the. sand track.

Havering cantered once .round and thou ran the last six furlongs of aj second round in, 1.25 without being extended.

Bright Glow was out doing easy pacing. i The jumpers Pikimai, Copey and Maidos set-out for a round of the grass. Maidos made the pace for most of the way. Timed from the six-furlong nost the trio ran the half-mile in 55, finishing up the six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. Pikimai and Coney finished together three lengths in front of Maidos. A number of t-woyear-olds were out doing usual routine work. Copey, Orazone, Pikimai, Maidos. The Warden and probably Calamine leave by to-morrow’s train to fulfil their engagements at Palmerston North.
