KAKARAMEA.

RESIDENTS FAREWELLED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A verv representative gathering of the settlors of Kakaramea gathered at the Kakaramea Hall to bid farewell to Mr and Airs Huston and Master Elwjn Huston, who are leaving to take up farmino- in the Waikato, at Matamata. The proceedings started with the singing of the National Anthem, and the school children then gave a couple oi items. Mr Tarrant, who acted as ■ chairman, then asked Mr and Airs Huston to accept a case of cutlery from the settlers of the district, wished them God speed and success m tlieir new home. vc- + . Alessrs Tong, Carmichael, R. Wart, H. Hall, and P. Hamblyn also spoke, all eulogising the work Air and Airs Huston had done in the district, especially among the young people, ancl wishing' them success in their new home. One of the senior pupils of the school (Mr Huston having been chairman, of tlio committee for 1G years) I then presented! a set of carvers. Mr Huston suitably replied, thanking one and all for their gifts to himsell and wife, and also for their good wishes. I Both Air ancl Airs Huston will he very much missed in Kakaramea and their place will he very hard to fill. Mr Huston leaves for his new home on Tuesday morning and Airs Huston follows at the end of the. week.
