RESULTS OF CONCERT.

A return of the proceeds of the fine concert field on Friday evening was laid before the members of the Main School band instrument committee at a meeting last night at the school, over which Mr T. J. Hurrell presided and at which there were present :Mrs Lend in m, Mr and Mrs .Westwood, Messrs Smith, Carrel, Harding, Fox, Thomas (headmaster) and W. Hawkins (secretary). A report on the concert showed that the gross takings were £97 and the net profit £63, which was considered exceedingly satisf ac t o ry. The chairman congratulated all concerned on the success secured and returned hearty thanks to the performers and all others who had in any way assisted. He stated that the position was now that the sum of £SO was still required to complete the purchase of the instruments and this it was hoped to have in hand before the band started practice, so that they could commence work free of debt. The headmaster reported that al ready 40 boys had applied to be enrolled. It was intended to select the best boys and to ballot for the remainder required. A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs Harding, Westwood and Horsburgh for donations to the fund. The instruments have been shipped and are expecetd to arrive in a month’s time.
