Following an auction .sale of household furniture seized by bailiffs for non-payment of rent in the suburb of Clovelly, a party of Communists, vowing vengeance on the landlord, broke into the evicted person’s cottage, smashed the fittings and windows, wrecked a gas stove, bath and fence, and chalked the walls. They then re- • turned to the Communist hall. Plain-clothes police detectives tonight raided the Communist headquarters and a fierce clash ensued. Hie police felled several men with batons and arrested 11 to the accompaniment of jeers, bad language and threats.
