Mr \\. B. Guy of the istaff of the Shannon branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is spending his vacation with Ins parents, Mr and Mi's W. A. Guy, of Mata pi 1 .
Mr A. J. Haseltinc, of South Road, who underwent an operation at the public hospital, is progressing satisfactorily and hopes to return to his homo shortly. One ol the best known men in the Dargaville district, Mr. Frank ,1. Dargaville, the eldest son of the late Mr. J. M. Dargaville, founder of the town and after whom Dargaville was named, died yesterday after a very brief illness. He formerly was Mayor and chairman of the Hobson County Council, and at the time of his death was president of tlie Dargaville Racing Club and Hobson Acclimatisation So- . ciety and an active member of the Golf Club, Bowling Club, Chamber of Commerce and many other local institutions. He was a keen supporter of all open-air sport and a most liberal donor of trophies, as well as being a staunch supporter of the Church of England, to which he recently presented. a pipe organ. He was a "strong supporter of the Reform Party' and for some years was chairman of Mr. Coates’ election committee. He is survived by a widow, two daughters, a brother and four sisters.
