British have triumphed in the 24 i hours’ Grand Prix endurance at Lemans, France. Yesterday’s victory ; was more complete than ever before. I The first four cars to finish were all J British. i The results were: First, Bentley, [ driven by Captain Woolf Barnato and . Lieut.-Commander Glen Kidson, aver- : age speed 76 miles an hour; second, i Bentley, average 73 miles; third, Talbot, average 6!) miles; fourth, Talbot, • average 68 miles. The Bentleys had a terrific struggle with the 'German Mercedes Benz, driven by Caracciola. Birkin. driving one of the five Bentleys, immediately challenged Caracciola and broke the record for a, lap, but a burst tyro lost him the leading position. The other Bentleys took up the challenge, and after an eleven hours’ light the Mercedes retired owing to engine trouble. Thereafter victory for the British cars uas assured. Of 17 starters, representing live nations, nine finished. An Alfa Borneo, driven by an English driver, was fifth, a British le France sixth, a Bugatti seventh, a Tracx eighth, and a Tracx ninth.
