NEXT MOVE FROM PREMIER UPPER HOUSE RETIREMENTS FU RTIT F.R APPOINT MENTS PROBABLE. (By Telegraph —Special to “The Star.”) WELLINGTON, May 22. Tiie next interesting development in the political situation will come from Rotorua, as Sir Joseph Ward is now able to submit his resignation to the Governor-General. When this will be clone is not known in Wellington, and it is stated that Hon. G. A\. Forbes (.Prime Alinister-elect) will remain in the capital. Still another feature of the situation is arousing much interest in party circles. There are several members of the Legislative Council whose nominated term is about to expire, and it is highly probable that Sir Joseph Ward, as liis final duty in connection with the office of Prune AJinister, will recommend not only the reappointment of the retiring Councillors, but will submit for the Governor-General's approval a further list involving .possibly half-a-dozen fresh appointments.

Jackson, chairman of the inter-provincial conference of the Farmers’ Union, which commenced to-day, it was decided to telegraph congratulations to Hon. G. AY.
