The campaign for the resistance of the salt laws took a serious turn at Dhurasna when a mob of 21300, who stormed the salt depot, were charged by the police. Over 200 were injured, and the principal leaders, including Mrs Sarojini Naidu and Manila 1, Gandhi’s second son, were arrested. Four hundred police took part in a raid on the Bombay Congress headquarters and arrested the president and all the officials and staff. When those arrested were being taken to the police station a crowd of some thousands surrounded the lorry and stoned the police, who had to fight their way out
