MISS JOHNSON’S AMBITION WANTS TO BE AIR MAIL PILOT. (Uuited Press Association —By Electric TelegrapD Copyrigut.) Received 10.30 a.m. to-day. LONDON, May 16. The deluge of congratulatory letters which have reached Miss Amy Johnson’s Hull home include otters of marriage, but her father says that no man has any chance with Amy while there is an aeroplane about. She is hoping to secure a post as an air mail pilot when she returns. ’PLANE REPAIRED. TEST FLIGHT SUCCESSFUL. RANGOON, May 16. Miss Amy Johnson’s ’plane, which was damaged at Insein, where slie landed in mistake for the Rangoon racecourse, has been repaired. A test flight was made early, this morning, which was very successful. The machine hovered over the racecourse and rose to 1200 ft. Miss Johnson stated that the repairs were all good. Miss Johnson departed for Bangkok at 10.30. There was heavy rain, but the wind was not strong locally. The weather suddenly became worse after nine o’clock. Though she is still worried hy the disappointment of failing in the object of her flight owing to the loss of two days caused by the mishap, the flier is now more cheerful. She is hopeful of successfully completing the rest of the journey.
