FLIGHT INTERRUPTED
CRASH IN ROUGH COUNTR\ SMITH AND SHIERS UNHURT TRIP MAY BE ABANDONED. • United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) BANGKOK, April 26. The Australians, Dave Smith and Walter Shiers, flying to England, were forced down in rough country 30 miles from the Siamese capital. The men were unhurt, but a wing of the ’plane was broken, and the flight may be abandoned.
The ’plane had been unable to take off fully loaded from Singora, on the Malay east coast, owing to the limited space at the aerodrome. The machine, therefore, had to start with a minimum load, which proved insufficient to reach Bangkok.
