(From Our Own Correspondent.) SCHOOL PICNIC. The annual school picnic was held on Monday, February 10, at the Paiea beach, the children being conveyed to Patea by motor lorries kindly provided by Messrs J. Gulliver and ,W. Hamilton. The weather conditions proved ideal, and a most enjoyable day was spent in bathing, children’s races and other amusements. J " During the day Master E. Skevington had the misfortune to run a large fish hook into his foot. He was -immediately conveyed to the doctor to have it extracted, later returning to the beach little the worse for the painful accident. r;'v rJGENERAL. The long spell of broken .weather has at last taken up, the .beautiful weather of last week .enabling the farmers to complete haymaking operations. As is the case in most other districts, there lias been a certain amount of damp hay stacked, and much more ensilage has been made than in previous years. Mrs J. "Dobson is at. present ; visiting her mother in the Wanganui district. . . A Mrs J. Budd, who has been visiting Mrs Langley, has returned to Palmerston North.
