MISSING LAUNCH LOCATED

FOUND AT SAMOA. FOUR MONTHS OUT FROM AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association ) AUCKLAND, Jan. 7. A private cable states that the Auckland launch which disapepared some four months ago, land named Marere, has been located at Rage Pago, Eastern Samoa, with two men and a unman and four children on board. The Marere left Auckland ostensibly to cruise on the New Zea'iiand coast, when he vesse'l disappeared. A long search proved fruitless. The Marere was owned by the. Beaver Boat iand Engine Company, of Auckland, who yore approached by a mian named Eugene Fischer,, with an offer to purchase the boat to run hides and skins from the Great Barrier. Fischer paid! a small deposit, taking the boat on a> fortnight’s trial, conditionally that the boat did not go outside Hauraki Gulf.

The Marere left Auckland on November 18. Fischer taking with, him his married sister and her husband, Mr and Mrs- Walker and four children. After the Marere had been away for several weeks, inquiries were made and it was ascertained that Fischer, before leaving, had laid in £75 worth of {stores and 500 gallons of crude oi] for the engine, indicating his intention to make a. long voyage. The Marere is a good sea boat. 38ft long .and with I.2ft beam. She has a 15 h.r>. crude oi'i engine and is cutter rigged. Negotiations have been opened with the consul at Pago Pago to have the Marere detained there until the position is cleared up.
