DAIRY PRODUCE PRICES.

LONDON QUOTATIONS,

The butter market is slow and prices are irregular. Retail prices, New Zealand Is 8d and Danish Is 9d per lb. are unchanged. The cheese market is quiet and retail prices are unchanged. Tliis report, dated Friday, January 3, iwas received on Saturday morning hy the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board from ts London office, which gives current wholesale quotations as follow', with those for the previous week in parentheses: BUTTER.

New Zealand: Salted, ICOs to 164 s (158 s to 1625); January 4, 1929, 182 s to IS-ts; unsalted, 189 s to 184 s (ISOs to ]S4s); first whey, 150 s (150 s); second whey, 140 s. Australian; Salted, 162 s to 356 s (154 s to 158 s); uusalted, 15Ss to 102 s (158 s to lG4s). Argentine; Uusalted, 150 sto 154 s (150 s to 15Gs). Danish: 171 s f.0.b., 17Gs to 17Ss spot (17Gs). Dutch; Unsalted, ISGs to ISSs. Siberian, 156 s (15Gs to 158 s). Polish, 142 s to 143 s (142 s to 150 s). CHEESE.

New Zealand: White, S7s to SSs (S9s to 90s; January 4, 1929, 95s to 965); coloured, 85s to 86 s (S7s'to SSs; January 4, 1929, 9Ss to 995). Canadian: White and coloured, 96s to 98s, ex. 100 s (90s to 100 s; 90s to 9Ss). Australian: White, SOs (not quoted); coloured, S4s to 85s (not quoted). English: Finest farmers, 110 s to 116 s (110 s to 116 s). DELIVERIES AND STOCKS. According to the report received by the Dairy Board from its London office, deliveries of Now Zealand butter for the week euded Friday, January 3, were 1543 tons, the quantity in .store being 4032 tons, compared with 2550 tons a year ago. The deliveries of New Zealand cheese for the week wore 17,458 crates, the quantity in store being 30,612 crates, 'compared with 21,000 crates a year ago. The Eemuera started discharging her butter on December 26 and finished unloading her cheese on December 28. The Corinthie started discharging her cheese on January 2.

The deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 8440 boxes, compared with 5147 boxes for the corresponding uveek a year ago, the quantity in store being 176,327 boxes as against 100,153 boxes a year ago. The estimated stocks of all butter held in store in London and in private and/or provincial stores as at January 1 were 11,500 tons, compared with 9000 tons a year ago. The estimated stocks of cheese in London, Liverpool and Bristol as at January 1 compare as follow:

The London office of Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., reports the following butter and cheese prices: Butter prices unchanged at 160 s. The market is weak and depressed. Danish is 1765. spot and 168 sto ,170 s f.o.b. Retail prices are unchanged. White cheese prices at S7s, are steady, and coloured at 84s to 85s is slow. Canadian is quiet at 96s to 98s. Retail prices are unchanged.
