TOUR TO AUSTRALIA. POSITION STILL UNCERTAIN. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) NEW YORK. Jan. 3. The secretary (Mr Ferris) of the Amateur Athletic Union, stated that he had received a cablegram from the Australian athletic authorities inviting Osborne to travel on the Makura, sailing on February 19. The Illinois Athletic Club. Chicago, oif which Osborne is a. member, stated that lie would be sailing bv the Niagara. on January 8. Efforts to reach Osborn© were >•> success fill. It was stated he and i;«s wile were out. of the city. Mr Ferris telegraphed Osborne for definite information an his 'plans.
